We described recently the multiresolution pattern spectrum (MPS), a method to extract the size distribution of image objects based on visual impression. In this paper, an optical implementation method of MPS is proposed using the visual area coding technique, an encoding method to operate gray scale images optically while preserving visual impressions of these.
