Subcommittee Rules and Regulations

Article 1 (Name)
The name of this subcommittee shall be Japan Society of Applied Physics Advanced Power Semiconductors Division.
Article 2 (Purpose)
The purpose of this subcommittee shall be the promotion of research relating to advanced power semiconductors and matters relating to the improvement of technology relating thereto.
Article 3 (Operations / Activities)
This subcommittee shall carry out the following operations in order to achieve the purposes of the preceding clause.
  1. Hosting of lectures, panel discussions, symposiums, tutorials, etc.
  2. Publicity activities on the internet relating to the subcommittee's operations.
  3. Other operations necessary for the achievement of this subcommittee's purposes.
Article 4 (Members)
  1. This subcommittee shall be formed from Japan Society of Applied Physics (hereinafter referred to as "the Society") members (regular members) and those persons whose membership has been approved by this subcommittee and who have been individually approved by the board of trustees of the Society (associate members).
  2. The judgment of qualifications of regular members and associate members shall be based upon the membership qualification judgment standards of the subcommittee.
  3. subcommittee members can only participate in the operations of this subcommittee.
  4. In such cases where a member conducted behavior which damaged the honor of this subcommittee or which is in opposition to the purposes of the subcommittee, or in such cases where non-payment of membership fees has continued for 2 years or longer, the subcommittee can expel members with the approval of the board of trustees of the Society.
Article 5 (Membership Fees)
Subcommittee members must pay the following subcommittee membership fees in advance by the end of December.
  • Regular members:2,000 yen per year(Students: 1,000 yen)
    Associate members:4,000 yen per year
Article 6 (Board of governors)
  1. Governors shall be placed in this subcommittee, and they shall form the board of governors.
    The board of governors shall deliberate and decide upon matters of importance to the subcommittee and be in charge of managing the subcommittee.
  2. The following executives shall be placed in the board of governors.
    • 1 chief secretary, a few regular governors
    However, when the board of governors deems it necessary based upon the request of the chief secretary, vice chief secretaries (2 or fewer) can be placed.
  3. The chief secretary shall summarize the affairs of the subcommittee and attend the Society's board of trustees meeting to report said affairs and request approval for the establishment or revision of the rules or regulations, the appointment of executives, operation plans, operation reports, estimation and balancing of income and expenditures, and other matters of importance.
    The vice chief secretaries shall assist the chief secretary and act as an agent of the chief secretary in his/her duties in the case of his/her absence of disabilities.
    Regular governors shall handle general affairs, accounting, plans, and other regular business.
  4. The appointment of executives shall be as follows. However, the chief secretary shall require the approval of the Society's board of trustees.
    The governors shall be decided through mutual election by members, and the chief secretary shall be decided through mutual election by governors.
    Vice chief secretaries and regular governors shall be delegated by the chief secretary through deliberation by the board of governors.
  5. In addition to the governors, advisors can be placed to attend the board of governors meetings by request of the chief secretary to provide advice regarding the subcommittee's operations.
    Advisors shall be delegated by the chief secretary through deliberation by the board of governors.
  6. The chief secretary and vice chief secretaries must be regular members of the Society.
    Half or more each of the governors and regular governors must be regular members of the Society.
  7. The term of office of executives shall be as follows.
    The term of office of the chief secretary shall be 2 years, and he/she cannot be reappointed.
    The terms of office of the vice chief secretary and regular governors shall be 2 years in principle, and reappointment shall not be denied.
    The term of office of governors shall be 2 years, half of the governors shall be re-elected each year, and reappointment shall not be denied.
Article 7 (Accounting)
This subcommittee's accounting will be processed together with the Society's accounting. However, it shall be a special account. This subcommittee's assets belong to the Society.
Article 8 (Revisions)
When it is deemed necessary by the board of governors, these rules and regulations can be revised with the approval of the Society's director of general affairs.
Supplementary provision
These rules and regulations shall be in effect from January 1, 2014.

Membership Qualification Judgment Standards for the subcommittee

Those who apply for membership in the Japan Society of Applied Physics Advanced Power Semiconductors Division shall be judged to be qualified as per the following standards.

1. Qualifications for joining as regular members
Persons who are members of the Japan Society of Applied Physics and who have an interest in advanced power semiconductor research.
2. Qualifications for joining as associate members
Persons who meet all the requirements of Clause 3 below.
  1. Persons who have majored in a course of study related to applied physics at a university or technical college, or persons deemed to have academic knowledge equal to or greater than the above.
  2. Persons who will participate in this group's operations relating to advanced power semiconductor research, social applications, education, diffusion, etc., and who will contribute to the development of this group.
  3. In general, persons who were deemed to be suitable for membership by and introduced by members of this subcommittee or regular members of Japan Society of Applied Physics.
